After rejecting more than 50 recommended math textbooks that supposedly "contained references to Critical Race Theory," Florida officials continued their war on education this week.
"References to Critical Race Theory (CRT), Common Core, and the uninvited addition of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in mathematics were among the reasons for textbook rejection," according to the statement. "There have been more than 200 cases of public school districts in Florida banning books since last July, the third greatest number of incidents of any state in the United States." "The governor has turned our classrooms into political battlefields and this is just the beginning," Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith stated in a tweet.
As a school employee I might biased, but I believe people don’t realize how much this affects schools, and learning overall. This need to be read, so I firmly believe this story needs to be on the spotlight, right next to the other soul crushing articles.
